Afghanistan Debuts Women’s Olympic Games

Taking active steps to reduce the gender gap in Afghanistan, the Paris-based non-governmental organization, Sports Sans Frontieres, recently coordinated that country’s first-annual, all-women’s Olympic events.  Competition included volleyball and the martial art, taikwando, among other sports.  Several hundred women, aged 10 to 25, took part, showcasing their abilities as top female athletes.
